IN THE CRACKS- A GRAPHIC NOVEL

Two young people sitting in a crack with protest signs and a rat.

In the Cracks is an ongoing graphic novel project exploring the lives of the people society overlooks, much like the themes explored in the charity single Blood and Brass, featuring the compelling voice of Raven Taylor.

Set in the spaces between mainstream narratives, these stories follow punks, former addicts, sex workers, activists, rough sleepers, ageing outsiders, and those living precariously on the edges of modern Britain. They are the people who fall through the gaps in services, in communities, and in public imagination — but who often build families, support networks, and communities of their own in the spaces left behind.

At its heart, In the Cracks is not a story about victims or villains. It is a story about survival, resilience, humour, friendship, and dignity. It is about people making art, making noise, making mistakes, and making lives for themselves in a world that rarely makes room for them.

The project combines stark black-and-white graphic novel artwork with character-driven storytelling rooted in punk ethics, DIY culture, and working-class communities. The stories are fictional but draw inspiration from real experiences, real places, and real people whose voices are often absent from traditional narratives.

Because sometimes the most interesting stories aren't happening in the spotlight; they are happening in the cracks.
